This Saturday Oct. 31st, The Brooklyn Bounce will celebrate Halloween with GUILTY PLEASURES. All the music we hate to love. Back in 2005, when Stimulus and his good friend Colt Seavers were spinning at Lotus, Cheetah and all the other clubs built on guilty pleasures and mash ups, they produced this mix for a MTV party at Rockerfeller Center. Enjoy this mix stacked with guilty pleasures.
New cover art by: David Ellis. The Same Artist who brought you: The Verve Remix album covers and much more.
I'm honored to work with this man once again on a project; my own project. I can't wait till the pressings are done this one needs to be in the physical and you need to own this.
Here is the pull out insert that will come with the cd pressings. My goal is to bring back the art that was always packaged with the music. Remember when you used to buy records tt felt good to have something physical in your hand to hold instead of a cold cd in a plastic case. Aesthetics are very important. It speaks for itself. Its communication without words. Most things that are designed really well function, feel and operate really well. Hopefully you will find my cd just as pleasing as looking at this beautiful piece of art work.
The insert:
This whole project from concept to completion has been totally organic, cosmic and natural. Everything just fell into place and I worked with some of the most talented people I know I and we all have respect for each others art and are very passionate about what we do for a living and for life. We give each other creative space to showcase our gifts and talents to the world. I think that's really important when you collaborate with people especially on a creative level. I decided to keep the flow and force the same throughout this whole project / album. Gravity is real and it brought this album together from the vocalist, musicians and artist that contributed to the album.
Early stages:
Aria shot some amazing pics of me in Redhook Brooklyn. Since its my new hood here in Bk I figured I'd keep it in the hood. She has an amazing eye and she's quick plus I feel really comfortable around her so the shoot was a breeze and lots of fun. David Ellis painting an beautiful piece he calls flow however I see it as the force. Jedi steeez well for my album "Take Flight". I spent lots of time building with David in his studio here in Brooklyn, playing records and just having real talk. His lab is always an inspiration for me although we work with different mediums we still have feelings about music. Once the painting was done and the shots were all laid out I hit my man Darhil who does all my $hit when it comes to graphics, flyers etc. He's no joke, my dude is the Art Director for Esquire mag here in NYC and even if he wasn't I would still rock with him 100percent.
Hopefully you will find my cd just as pleasing the way it looks. Big shout out, hugs, pounds, props, love, respect to my family that put this together:
True to the name, The Brooklyn Bounce has "bounced" around BK for the last 3 years exposing people to new venues. This Saturday we're taking you to Little Field in the Gowanus; the latest up and coming hood to hang out in in Brooklyn.
The Brooklyn Bounce will be hosting a special Halloween 2009 focused on Guilty Pleasures. We already know that a lot of people use costumes to express their gp's, so we're going to focus on music that everyone hates to love. (BKB: GP HALLOWEEN@ DEITY. FREE ENTRY W/ COSTUME TIL MIDNIGHT)
